Racism

Posts tagged Racism apply my central principle on prejudice to one of its hardest cases. The standard I hold, in every direction without exception, is that judging an individual by the category you have sorted them into rather than by who they are is the same error no matter who does it.

I was raised with racial prejudices I had to unlearn, and I write about that honestly. These posts are not comfortable, because the subject is not comfortable, but they insist on a single consistent standard rather than one that shifts depending on who is involved.

This thread connects to my forthcoming book, Everybody’s Prejudiced, and to my broader argument for judging people as individuals.
