Marriage

This category is about marriage and partnership, drawn mostly from my own experience, including my years with my late wife. It is some of the most personal writing I do, because marriage is where life gets real in a way little else does.

I was married to a woman I loved deeply, and her loss is part of who I am now. Writing about marriage, for me, is partly writing about her, and partly writing about what a genuine partnership asks of a person and gives back to them. It is not a subject I can approach abstractly, and I do not try to.

The posts here are honest about both the joy and the cost of loving someone fully. If you have loved and lost, or are in the middle of building a life with someone, you will find familiar territory here.
