Gaming

I have been a gamer for most of my life, from fantasy miniatures and wargames to the long campaigns that ate entire weekends. This category is where I write about that part of who I am: the games, the stories that came out of them, and why play has always mattered to me.

Gaming, done right, is not an escape from thinking. It is thinking, dressed up as fun. The strategy, the storytelling, the social dynamics around a table, all of it exercises the same faculties that serve you everywhere else in life. Some of my best memories and some of my closest friendships came out of a shared game.

The posts here include accounts of specific games and campaigns, reflections on the hobby, and the occasional story about the people I played with. If you game, you will recognize the territory. If you do not, you may come away understanding why some of us take it so seriously.
