Prejudice

Posts tagged Prejudice form the heart of my thinking on how people judge one another and why. My central argument is simple and applied without exception: judging an individual by the category you have sorted them into, rather than by who they actually are, is the same error in every direction.

I was raised with prejudices I had to unlearn, and I have been on the receiving end of others. That dual experience runs through these posts. They are also seed material for my forthcoming book, Everybody’s Prejudiced, which makes the case that everyone carries prejudice and that the practical cost of acting on it is that your world shrinks.

These posts insist on one consistent standard for everyone, and on judging people as the individuals they are.
