Facts about me

Facts about me

Here are a few facts about me. I am the owner of The Writing King and The Ghostwriting King, which provides all kinds of writing services from copywriting to technical writing. Until November 2013, I managed a gaggle of computer geeks. There are eight computer geeks to a gaggle. From my earliest memory, I’ve been fascinated by geology and history. The first adult level book I read was when I was seven; it was the history of the battle of Iwo…

Insane trip across the US

Insane trip across the US

Today Mardhavi Sakuntala and I are at the half way point on our insane trip across the United States. We’re in Texas, a nothing town called Ozona. We stopped at Carlosbad Caverns yesterday, which was great fun. Other than that, our trip has mostly consisted of a mad dash across the desert. Our theory is to hustle through the western US because we’ve seen that area, and then have time to spend in the eastern part of the country. Mardhavi has many…

That’s insane!

That’s insane!

So a fired ex-LAPD cop writes some silly, retarded “manifesto” blaming everyone for his problems then goes out and starts shooting people, including killing cops and a civilian, stupidly lets his getaway car break down and burns it, hides in a cabin in Big Bear, idiotically gets found and involved in a huge battle with over 200 cops, kills another cop and finally bets burned to death in the cabin (so it is believed), most likely because, not impressing anyone with…

Show me the evidence

Show me the evidence

One of the problems today is someone will make an asinine statement such as “the single entity responsible for the most deaths in all recorded history is the catholic church” and we all take it as fact without supporting evidence. We all nod our heads like sheep and think “yep”. And some of is who still have a brain cell firing say, “wait, that’s not right, where’s the evidence?” And then we’re told “well, prove it wrong”. No. That’s not…

Is it so bad to be uncomfortable?

Is it so bad to be uncomfortable?

I will admit that when I photographed an all-male bellydance show for the first time, I was a bit uncomfortable, but I quickly loosened up and enjoyed the show. I’ll tell you when all the dancers, including Mark Bissell, gave me a group hug, I was really uncomfortable, but I somehow survived the massive shock (sarcasm) to my psyche. I know I will need countless hours of therapy to recover from the emotional pain from that event, but I think…

Browsers

Browsers

After many months of using several browsers side-by-side on my home and work computers, I now have a conclusion. Google Chrome is by far and away the better browser (on Windows, can’t speak for macs). -It is more secure -It’s usage of memory and CPU is very good -It’s updates don’t tend to make the browser unstable (as is a problem with firefox) -It is super fast -Everything i use on a day-to-day basis (about 40 sites) works perfectly -The…

A night of terror

A night of terror

I’ve started writing a book on how to survive a disaster. Here’s the first draft of the introduction. Let me know what you think. Introduction – A night of terror One morning, very early, I was rudely awoken by a low rumbling sound and a gentle shaking. My eyes snapped open immediately and sat straight up in the bed. A few seconds later, the whole room moved violently, crazily, for what seemed like forever. I pushed my wife out of…

Belly dance and me

Belly dance and me

I’ve been asked many times by many people why I am so involved in the belly dance community. I always answer the same “it keeps me out of trouble”. Everyone laughs, thinking I am joking. Actually, “keeping me out of trouble” is the the gods honest truth. Hanging out with belly dancers, being involved with them as friends, as a photographer, and on a number of other levels, helps keep me sane, lowers my stress level, and improves my life…

Letting Go

Letting Go

Sometimes I find I just have to let something go. When Claudia, my late wife, was very sick she could not leave the house. So I searched for things that could keep her mind busy, to help her creative side, so she could have some happiness in spite of the illness. I found a graphics program called Poser 3D and bought it for her. Now the thing about Poser is it’s like a Barbie Doll; once you have the main…
